There’s plenty of star power in the 2025 U.S. Open men’s semifinal. While there are higher-ranked players remaining in the event, no player has drawn more attention than No. 7 Novak Djokovic. The longtime tennis legend is in the midst of yet another dominant run, taking down No. 4 Taylor Fritz to make it to the semifinal.
Djokovic’s task will only get harder in the semis, where he’ll take on No. 2-ranked Carlos Alcaraz. The two have faced each other eight times, with Djokovic leading the series 5-3. Alcaraz will look to close that gap when the two meet on Friday.

With his legacy already secure, a win would only add to the legend of Djokovic, who already holds the record for the most men’s Grand Slam singles titles with 24. Four of those Grand Slam wins have come at the U.S. Open.
This is only Alcaraz’s fifth U.S. Open, but he already notched a win at the event, taking down Casper Ruud to win it all in 2022. It was the first Grand Slam win of Alcaraz’s career. He’ll look to re-create similar magic against Djokovic on Friday.
On the other side, the men’s No. 1 Jannik Sinner will look to repeat as champion at the U.S. Open after winning the title last year. A win in 2025 would also put Sinner in rarified company. The 24-year-old has already won the Australian Open and Wimbledon. A win at the U.S. Open would give Sinner wins at three out of four Grand Slams in 2025. While he did not win the 2025 French Open, Sinner came close, reaching the final at the event, where he was defeated by Alcaraz.

Sinner’s opponent will be Félix Auger-Aliassime, who has turned into a giant-slayer during the event. Despite being ranked as the No. 25 men’s player, Aliassime has dispatched the No. 3, No. 8 and No. 15 ranked men’s players at the 2025 U.S. Open. It would only be fitting if Auger-Aliassime took down the men’s No. 1 next. If he can manage that, Auger-Aliassime would reach a Grand Slam final for the first time in his career.
While that would represent an upset, it’s not out of the question. Auger-Aliassime and Sinner have squared off three times, with Auger-Aliassime taking two of those matches. He’ll look to continue his strong run against Sinner on Friday.
